Choosing the Right Facility – Large Facility or Small Facility
Consideration should be given to all types of facilities that are
available to enable the resident and family to choose the
best one suited for them. SARCH Membership consists of various personal,
residential care and assisted living facilities, including Adult Foster
Care. Each is independently owned and operated. It is our strong recommendation
that you call and visit several homes before deciding which home meets
your needs.
One of the primary advantages of Residential/Personal Care Homes is
the "family-like" atmosphere provided by the premises and
staff. The types of personal care services that are offered by Homes
vary, so it is important to know what type of care your loved one requires.
Activities are another area in which you may be interested. Large
Assisted Living Facilities offer a wide range of group activities.
Members of SARCH offer more intimate, small group, social and physical
interaction. Ask what activities are offered, how often, and group
size. Keep in mind the preferences and capabilities of your loved
one while choosing the appropriate setting.
